Overview

What it
does

VPX Protocol is the planned on-chain foundation of the entire VPX Ecosystem. It will provide an immutable ledger that records routing events, fraud blacklists, quality data and settlement records - making every telecom event on the VPX Network provably correct, tamper-resistant and independently verifiable by any participant. Mainnet is planned for Q4 2026.

The Protocol is built on a proven high-performance base - a Sui-derived Move object model with Mysticeti-class DAG-BFT consensus - rather than a bespoke chain of its own. Independent routing decisions finalise on an owned-object fast path in roughly 250 to 400 milliseconds, and the base consensus is demonstrated in production at over 200,000 transactions per second, well beyond real telecom volumes. The engineering target is a conservative 5,000 to 10,000 transactions per second sustained, with headroom to scale. The principle throughout: standard where a mistake costs real money (consensus and cryptography), novel only in the telecom-specific layer built on top.

Smart contracts on VPX Protocol will automate the commercial logic that currently requires bilateral agreements, manual reconciliation and dispute processes. Rate agreements, quality SLAs, fraud blacklist governance and settlement calculations will execute automatically and transparently - removing the trust gap that exists in today's wholesale telecom ecosystem.

Architecture

How the layer operates

Transaction Submission

Network events (routing decisions, fraud reports, CDRs, quality scores) are submitted to the mempool by authorised nodes as signed transactions.

Block Formation

Validators build a DAG of transaction batches (Mysticeti-class consensus), committing with sub-second latency. Time-sensitive routing is prioritised over settlement, so a settlement backlog never delays a routing decision.

Consensus Validation

Mysticeti-class DAG-BFT consensus with delegated-proof-of-stake economics. Byzantine fault tolerant - the network stays live with up to 1/3 of validator stake offline. Independent, single-owner operations take a fast path that finalises without a full consensus round.

Smart Contract Execution

On-block smart contracts execute automatically: routing logic updates, fraud blacklist writes, quality score updates and settlement calculations happen trustlessly within the block.

Finality & Propagation

Single-step finality - a committed block is final, with no two-phase wait: roughly 250 to 400 milliseconds on the owned-object fast path (routing) and roughly 390 milliseconds on the consensus path (settlement, fraud). Historical state is immutable and auditable by any participant, with no probabilistic fork to rewrite.

Immutable Fraud Ledger

Every confirmed fraud event is written to the VPX blockchain as a permanent, auditable record. Tamper-resistant: fraud records cannot be removed, altered, or suppressed by any single participant.

Smart Contract Routing

Rate agreements and routing preferences are encoded as smart contracts. Route selection executes automatically against on-chain quality data - removing manual rate tables entirely.

Consensus Governance

Protocol upgrades, parameter changes and blacklist governance are decided by on-chain DAO vote. VPXN holders vote proportional to their stake - no centralised upgrade authority.

Proven High-Performance Base

Built on a consensus demonstrated in production at over 200,000 transactions per second - far beyond real telecom event volumes. The design target is a conservative 5,000-10,000 TPS sustained with headroom to scale, so the number is honest and citable rather than aspirational.

Ethereum L2 Bridge (Phase 3)

A Phase 3 (Months 13-18) post-genesis bridge to an Ethereum L2 will produce a wrapped VPXN representation for EVM-venue liquidity and DeFi integration. **Not present at mainnet genesis.** The native VPXN on the purpose-built VPX chain is the only form of the token at Day 1; the bridge is a forward-looking deliverable with its own audit and insurance allocation (see Whitepaper 01 §3.4 and Token Economy §16.6).
